Our Chief of Research Joins EU Delegation Youth Sounding Board in Kazakhstan

We are pleased to share that our Chief of Research, Eldaniz Gusseinov, has been selected to join the Youth Sounding Board (YSB) at the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan. He was chosen through a competitive, multi-stage process – a strong recognition of his expertise in Central Asian geopolitics and EU–Central Asia relations.

Eldaniz brings a deep personal and academic connection to Europe and Central Asia. He began his studies at the Kazakh-German University and later pursued master’s programmes in Hungary and Germany, where European studies formed the core of his curriculum. His bachelor’s thesis explored how Germany’s soft power shapes identity processes in Kazakhstan, while his master’s dissertation examined shifting spheres of influence in Kazakhstan after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, with a particular focus on the European Union’s role in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

At Nightingale Int., Eldaniz has been central in shaping our coverage of EU–Central Asia relations, a topic we regularly analyse across our platforms. His work connects academic depth with policy relevance – exactly the kind of perspective the Youth Sounding Board is designed to bring into EU decision-making.

Looking ahead, Eldaniz believes that future EU–Kazakhstan cooperation should prioritise:

  • Expanding education programmes with a strong emphasis on technical disciplines
  • Developing transport corridors in partnership with other key actors in Central Asia
  • Advancing ESG standards in the extractive industries

As part of the Youth Sounding Board, he will draw on this background to help amplify youth perspectives on sustainable development, security, and EU–Kazakhstan cooperation.

We are proud to see Eldaniz represent Nightingale Int. in this important forum and look forward to sharing more insights from his work with the EU Delegation and fellow YSB members.
